The god delusion

Does god really exist? Do we need god in order to be good and moral?

I have read "The God Delusion", a 2006 best selling, written by Richard Dawking. This book gave me the answers to the questions above.

Briefly, the author focuses on many agruments against the existence of god. Firstly, the god did not create human. Instead, we went through very long-time evolution. According to the natural selection hypothesis by Charles Darwin, it is believed that we develop from primates.

Secondly, god did not create the universe. Our present technology can take the pictures of the born of the universe. Nowadays scientists can explain how the universe was born and evolved without the super natural being. If interested, you can watch the lecture given by Prof Hawking, a famous cosmology theorist of Cambridge University, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFjwXe-pXvM

Finally, the author agrues that, without god, we humans still need to be good and moral. Because reputation is necessary for us to live, survive, and succeed in our social, we try to be good and moral to get reputed. According to the game theory, cooporation among people always take places. In spite of the fact that we all are intrinsically selfish, we help others because we want to be reciprocated. Not only is this behavior observed in the human social, it also happens in the animal social which is less complex.

Summarily, base on our knowlege in sciences and the natural selection, god did not create human and the universe. According to the game theory, one does not need god in order to be a good guy. These facts leave no places for god to exist.

PS. Just add one more thing. I found the following ironic quote on the internet:

Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man – living in the sky- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time … But He loves you!
